CROZET HALL
Virginia Military Institute
Lexington, Virginia

MMM provided full design services for the renovation of VMI's principal dining facility. The "mess hall" is a two-story stucco and stone structure of 41,200 GSF. The existing building was expanded by 13,800 GSF and retrofitted for a new, state-of-the-art dining facility.
To accommodate VMI’s new program requirements and new HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems were needed to replace the building’s aging infrastructure. Hazardous materials investigation and remediation services were also anticipated within the mechanical systems of the building. The scope of services also called for window restoration and greater energy efficiency. Lighting and power distribution needed upgrading to meet increased demands for electrical service and telecommunications, as well as new programmed kitchen equipment and serving areas.
