As
part of a term contract, MMM performed a feasibility study and provided
design services for the renovation of this College of William & Mary dining
facility for students, faculty, and staff.
In association with ARAMARK Design Solutions, MMM provided a multidiscipline design approach for the renovation of the building infrastructure and replacement of the food service equipment and interior furnishings in order to clearly define a new “marketplace” campus dining experience. The design provided a new serving area where patrons could select from a variety of stand-alone food venues – either prepared at the venue itself or delivered from a state-of-the-art kitchen. MMM recommended a 760 SF addition to support an after hours café and reconfiguration of the main entrance and general exterior to reflect current design criteria for public entry porticos.
Phase I of the proposed
renovation included demolition and reconstruction of the ground floor
level amounting to 15,966 SF. Major building systems
were installed and preparation of new elevators and stairs occured
during this phase. Phase II was programmed to include the new construction
of the main entrance totaling 760 SF and the first floor renovation of 20,738
SF. MMM also recommended the construction of patios adjacent to the dining
area and modifications to the existing walkways.
