After evaluating the existing HVAC systems to determine causes for the
system’s inability to maintain desirable environmental conditions,
MMM recommended corrective action with construction schedules and estimated
costs. The existing builiding is to be provided a new exterior skin
and glass with construction documents prepared by a separate design
package. MMM prepared annual energy analysis and life cycle cost analysis
on multiple types of building materials, insulation and glass, and
recommendations.
This analysis was prepared
in-house on a PC-based Hourly Analysis Program (HAP 3.0). Existing HVAC
equipment capacities were compared
to the heating
and cooling loads for each façade studied. By adding a slight amount
of wall insulation, MMM was able to retain the central heating and cooling
equipment that was otherwise undersized.
