MMM Design Group provided transportation engineering services for location
study and design of a 0.6 mile access roadway connecting Chincoteague
Island with the Virginia mainland. The project reviewed several alternate
alignments over the Black Narrows and Chincoteague Channels, and also
examined potential construction and infrastructure issues that would
affect the Town of Chincoteague. Extensive citizen information participation
was also a key feature of this project.
The project is presently in final design (in metric units) and, based on further VDOT review, is tenateively scheduled to proceed with construction phases by 2007.
