The modernization of this 1970 campus dining hall involved the Phase
I mechanical retrofitting of HVAC equipment in the basement and first
floors totaling more than 60,000 SF. A new energy management control
system was also installed. MMM implemented special construction phasing
to ensure timely completion of all contracted work within minimal disruption
during the summer of 1999. Phase II design services continued with
MMM and Ricca Newmark Design in creating a state-of-the-art dining
facility with an innovative “market place” style concept
that incorporated seven major food venues into the new programmed space.
